David Foss

 

Biographical Information

David Foss was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1959 and grew up in the Midwest. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1986 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy/Religious Studies from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD in 1981.

Since moving to Philadelphia in 1989, his life has revolved around the visual arts. When not fully committed as a non-objective painter and sculptor, he has been employed as an arts administrator with the City of Philadelphia, Exhibitions Coordinator with the Wood Turning Center, and also serves as the Director of the Da Vinci Art Alliance, a non-profit artist cooperative in the South Philadelphia.

David Foss has an extensive exhibition and sales record of his paintings and sculptures throughout Colorado and across the Delaware Valley. His one-person exhibitions include displays at the Philadelphia Art Alliance’s Satellite Gallery in Philadelphia, University of Colorado in Denver, Gloucester County College in Sewell, NJ, and the Watchung Arts Center in Watchung, NJ. He has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions that include the 1991 Biennial at the Delaware Art Museum, Art Around The Edges at the Port of History Museum in Philadelphia, and at the Gallery Siano in the Old City section of Philadelphia.

Mr. Foss’s artwork has been extensively reviewed in the local media in such publications as Art Matters and Philadelphia Style magazines, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and the South Philadelphia Review.
